The Sunshine No.2 Tour completed about 3 weeks of perfect cloudless sky weather that was also enjoyed on the first tour.

Winston Doyle (Concord GC - Hcp 31 to 34) started the tour by winning the first three rounds at Maroochy River, Peregian and Noosa Springs and set up what seemed to be an unsailable lead.
But despite being 12 shots behind after 3 rounds - Adrian Todd (Mt Osmond - Hcp 6 to 7) playing with a new knee - found his rhythm and came home strongly with 42 points at Palmer Coolum and 38 points at Twin Waters - to win by 9 shots

For the first time in 68 years The Open Trophy will be contested in Northern Ireland

The local council has spent in excess of £17 million on improvements that includes a new railway station, to a town of only 7,000 people.  The Open will be the largest sporting event Northern Ireland has ever staged - the last time in 1951 The Open was staged at Royal Portrush, but a lot has changed since then.
